Night Road

Night Road

Veganism as I see it & free thoughts.

Changing lifestyle in one night is a tough task and even impossible and unimaginable for some people. If you’ve never thought about planet’s interests and concerns you’ll never change neither behavior nor diet. We slave animals for food then food slaves us. Food is everywhere and usually it’s quality leaves much to be desired. How difficult it is to give up sweets, fast food, white bread, refined food, meat. Usually when people hear “vegetarian” they think of a “diet” that leads to “limits” which logically ends up somewhere near “miserable”, “poor”, “unhappy”, “scarcity” and so on. It’s our mind that needs “tasty” food, it’s our mind that can’t stand any limits. We live in a century of abundance though this abundance is a fake.

Actually we eat the same food every day but food industry with a help of chemical one keeps us unaware of what we eat. I always see people carefully trying to read ingredients of a product in markets and thus they try to make a deliberate choice. I keep watching them and notice that in fact they’re lost in all chemicals listed and just buy no matter what. All processed food is the same evil, there’s no difference between McDonalds and Burger King – it’s all the same shit. Some fanatics say that McDonalds is a Devil’s cuisine, but it’s not. There’s no devilish seduction in your plate, your plate is full of your choices. Lots of books about well-being are written already. Everybody knows that we should eat well, sleep well, train regularly and take walks. Even though the knowledge is obvious our habits win this every day meal battle again and again. Why? Because the lack of motivation. When I first stopped eating to lose weight I faced the problem of so called “mental hunger”, when I don’t want to eat physically but my mind insists on a cookie. Well, my diet life story is another topic.

Now I’m talking about meat that we were taught to eat. I remember when I was a child I could hardly be made to eat meat, I just didn’t want it. But parents were very persuasive and used different tricks to feed me with meat. Time passed and I got used to meat, to it’s taste and that feeling appearing after every meal. The problem is that there are too many pros for meat and we automatically recall them when a thought of giving up meat appears and of course a decision to switch to a plant based diet doesn’t meet any support or approval.

Hey you over there, I support you! I believe in you and totally agree with you. You are not alone and you won’t die of “not getting enough protein”. I’ve been being vegan for 4 years and I’m still asked if I get enough protein (even several times a day). I put up with it and answer smiling: “Yes I get enough protein but I’m not sure you do”. I’m not a good speaker at all I prefer listening to others rather than speaking. But telling my story seems to be the only way to help new vegans get rid of doubts.

One night I came up with an answer how I personally can convince people that being vegan is ok. As far as I know human’s psychology people don’t like to be taught, they don’t like to feel themselves ordinary, they hate being blamed but they do like talking about themselves, feeling unique and that’s more important they’ll follow till the end only one idea – the idea they came up with. Thus purpose seems clear: I should push their thoughts in a right direction, show then hoe sufficient and sophisticated they could be.

Everyone has his own reason to become vegan. The reason will come itself if a man starts thinking in the right direction. I consider sight to be the most important pf all human senses. Sight provides us more information than any other sense. When we see object we can estimate its size, shape, color, texture and even origin. For that reason I really appreciate the work photographers do. They make enormous contribution to “fair to the planet lifestyle” propaganda. Something should be switched on onside of a person before he becomes even an “occasional vegetarian”. As for me I gave up meat long time ago and I didn’t have any specific reason. I just did what I felt right about. So go ahead and make your own healthy choices.
